Our Interests

This is our Interests Page. Our individual interests in the family are many and varied. They include:

1. Arts and Culture

Nigerian arts and culture are well known around the world. Here we bring you some cultural items such as Nigerian Folklore and Poetry.

2. Computing For Fun

One of Grandpa's hobbies is computing. He is also the family Webmaster as well as the designer and manager of this Website. Grandpa also writes for a local monthly computer magazine, Microbyte, which is now Internationally published as PCWorld West Africa. He shares some of his published articles in this section.

3. Forums

We have two active Forums at present:

(a) Agricultural  Forum to highlight Nigeria and Africa agrarian problems and efforts to solve them. Africa is inundated with several problems among which are, Poverty, Hunger and Malnutrition, Ethnic Wars, and HIV/AIDS. Nevertheless, many Africans have not lost hope about the ability of the continent to survive and progress. Views on these problems and possible solutions are offered in this Forum.

(b) Christian Forum is moderated by the webmaster. These are mostly inspirational stories we get from all over the world.

4. Jokes Apart

We often receive by email, some jokes that nearly always crack

our ribs. We have created a new section to share them with you.

5. Nigerian Recipes

In this section, Grandma shares with you her best Nigerian recipes. She says: “I will try to give you a new recipe as often as possible. Selected past issues of my recipes are kept in the Archives for new visitors and for reference. If you have a recipe you want to share with us and others, please send it along. We will acknowledge it and it may become “The Recipe” for a new update of our Website.

7. Our Photo Gallery

We collect some very engrossing pictures that are difficult to forget. We share these collections with you in Our Photo Gallery. A new addition to the gallery is Adventure at Oko.

8. Reflections In Cartoons

Bunmi Oloruntoba once worked for The Guardian newspaper as an editorial cartoonist in Nigeria (2001-2002) before going to the United States. However, his cartoons are still being published as fillers in The Guardian. We have created a section to show selections of those cartoons. The cartoons are comments on contemporary Nigerian social, economic and political issues.

9. Letters from the USA

Bunmi also sends home, periodically, thoughtful and amusing letters dubbed "Letters from USA".

Selected past issues of our stories, recipes, folklores, and newsletters are stored in the Archive.
