Bunmi's First Mail from USA

THE BUNMI HAS LANDED

Hello. I thank God for making my trip to the United States a success. From Lagos to JFK and on to Cleveland, the Lord Jesus Christ led me and helped me scale every hurdle. Everything went like clockwork. We landed at New York at 7.00 am on the dot. Though the seats in the economy were crampy, there were a lot of empty seats, because the 747 can seat 300 passengers and we were about 150 in all. I quickly copied the white girl in the next row and took over the two seats next to mine, which were unoccupied. So, I was able to stretch out and enjoy my sleep. In short, I had a First class flight!

Customs check at JFK was a breeze. Since I had only a bag, they didn't make me wait along with the others who were hauling tons of suitcases. I was taken aside and within a minute, they were through with me. I thought JFK would be a rowdy airport, going by the city's reputation. But, it wasn't. I took a shuttle to the next terminal where I connected to the Continental airline headed for Cleveland. There was a 2 hour wait, and I spent it window shopping. The flight to Hopkins airport in Cleveland was bumpier because the plane was smaller. From the air, one can see the city of Cleveland stretched inland from the sea. It's very flat and everything looks brown. The landscape must be the reason for the incredible gusts of wind and coldness. Even their football team is called the Cleveland Browns.

Upon seeing brother Leke at the baggage claim, I screamed for joy and we hugged and hugged some more. Their home is about 10 minutes from the airport. (excluding all the time it takes to obey traffic lights - something I'm still getting used to). When we got to their beautiful apartment in the suburbs, I was officially introduced to Roland Junior. He is the cutest thing I've ever seen. He is so warm and gentle, just like the mother. He however displays some restlessness, in his perpetual attempt to redecorate the apartment. (I guess that aspect comes from the father). Their apartment is like something out of a picture book. Everything is painted white. It's very beautiful.

Baba and Mama Roland are (over) taking care of me. They are amazing people. I love them so much! We won't be going to Virginia Beach till aye for Bros Leke's Graduation, so I'll be getting to know a lot more about Cleveland. I plan to do a driving test soon, because I've been told that I'll eventually need a car at Regent. Bros Leke seems to have worked out everything. I couldn't be in safer hands.

Thanks for all the prayers that made my trip a success. Love, Bunmi.
