I
hope everything is well. I miss both of you more and more with every passing
month. Summer semester is fully underway. I am trying to see if I can take three
classes but so far I've only been able to pay for two. Taking full summer loads
is the only way to get all the credits one needs in order to
get through the program before the fellowship money runs out. Right now I'm
taking two classes: "Great European Film Directors" and "Qualitative
Research
Methods." Both classes are designed as two-week intensives with final papers due
a few weeks after classes end. "European directors" ends first week of June but
"qualitative" starts May 31st. If things go well, I might be able to take
"Visual Aesthetics" at the end of July wrapping up 9 credits for the summer.
I need 44 credits to complete
course work so that I can take my qualifying exams. At the end of this summer,
if I can have 27 of them under my belt, I will be in a good position to be done
with course work next spring. Then my plan is to use the summer of '06 to
prepare for exams in the fall and if it goes well it's on to the dissertation.

I will be teaching the on-line "story structure for screenwriting" class next
semester -- my name is already up on the catalogue. In the mean time, I've
pleaded for more fellowship money and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that
something will come through. Last semester was really trying but I don't want to
complain about it. I just want to move on and get this program done with as soon
as humanly possible.
I'm hoping to use June as the month
to polish many of the papers I've staked up for possible submission in the fall.
I am also working every shift I can get at the library to help pay for classes.
God has been good though - I got a refund of 500 back on my taxes which will
help repair my car -- its barely moving, its really in a bad shape for a while.
At the end of the day, when one
thinks of many who will give anything to have this opportunity, one still has to
count his blessings and not his difficulties. Thanks for all your prayers. Give my love to everybody -- I love
you very much. Bunmi
