Letters from USA  17

Hi Mum and Dad

It's Christmas Eve and I'm at home typing away on my proposal and the other things I need to get ready for the January 1st '07 so that I will have the last of the credits I need to qualify and register to take my qualification exams in February.

How are you all doing?  I'm sure Akinyemisi and the Ofulues will be spending Christmas with you.  I am looking forward to hearing your voices on Christmas Day but I might as well just call you all today.  It hasn't snowed yet but Virginia hardly gets any snow before Christmas.

Rotimi is planning to spend Christmas at the Nzewis and Tuss will be staying with friends.  I will be spending Christmas with all these books and papers.

By the way, I recently switched platforms - I'm now on a Mac. My PC crashed a while back and since Apple applications have come of age on the internet, I decided to dip my toe in Mactopia.

Apples are fabulous.  Switching from a PC to an Apple is like switching from a stick to an automatic gear drive. Since Apple doesn't come with PCs right click abilities, it's like it doesn't come with a clutch and it takes a while to get used to it, find the short cuts or just settle for a mouse.  It does everything else well and I have loaded "Word" on it so I'm good to go.

Everybody is waiting for the windows launch next year. Already reviews are out about the 2007 MS Office and how the new "Word" interface looks - believe it or not, no more menus and toolbars.

Some people already downloaded and use the beta test version but I hear the launch and vista was released to businesses some weeks ago.  It retails at the end of January.  Are you going to upgrade?  I can still get a PC down the road but, for now, I'm on apple and it's really cool.

Well, I guess that's it for now.  Talk to you soon.  Love you, Bunmi.
