HELLO,

Dear Family Members, Friends and Visitors,

We are keeping up our resolution to update this site quarterly and to let you know what we have updated. So, here we go again for the third quarter of the year.

1. Our adventure at OKO

On May 20th, 2006, Akin Adesina and the family webmaster, Sanya Oloruntoba, travelled by car from Ilorin to Ibadan. Five kilometers from the village of OKO, our car broke down. After towing it to Oko for repairs, we found that the problem was a burnt gasket. How the gasket was removed and a new one obtained to replace it by the village mechanics, is the kernel of this true story. It is a story you should not miss.

2. Our Photo Gallery #10

Some of the photographs taken during the car breakdown adventure are displayed in our photo gallery #10. There are five pictures there; two showing the nearly burnt out engine of our car and others showing us in pensive moods. There is one showing your webmaster hungrily devouring a very late lunch!

3. The Green Revolution gathers momentum

The much talked about African Green Revolution seem to be gathering momentum with the donation of $100 dollars by Bill Gates Melinda Foundation to complement Rockefeller Foundation support with $50 million for the next five years. The fund are to be used mainly for the training of scientists for the project. Read all about it in this update

4. Give me this mountain: A sermon

This is a message we had the privilege to give to the youths of the the English section of our Church. Caleb, in the Joshua 14:1-14 asked Joshua in verse 12, “Give me this mountain” (mount Hebron) as his

share of the inheritance after they had entered and conquered Canaan. Taking a mountain is to face our challenges in Christian life.

The mountains facing Christian youths in our nation today are enormous: They include: Cultism, Drugs, Sexual promiscuity, Marital unfaithfulness, HIV/AIDS, Get rich  quick syndrome and so forth. It is often said that our youths are a reflection of our society. Yes that is true, but Christian youths should be different. When we take our mountains and overcome them, we will gain a profound peace that only Christ can give.

5.  His Excellency: A new joke

Here is a new, (well, not so new) joke about politicians from developing countries. It will make you laugh.

6. Grandma's latest Nigerian recipe

At long last, we've got grandma to give us a new Nigerian recipe for our visitors. She said she wanted to give a recipe that can be of universal interest. Try this one titled "Assorted Pancakes" and let us know if you like it.

7. We are planning a new website

Our free space at tripod.com, which is only 20meg, is getting full. The alternatives are to upgrade to a paid site with bigger space, or look for a more generous free host. We think we have found one with a free 250meg. Yes, 250meg free! But we want to test that host first with regard to its administration and policy. A family website should not be hosted anywhere, particularly with hosts that allow indecent and inappropriate sites on its servers. When we are ready to move we shall let you know where to find us.

8. Feedback to your comments

If you have been in touch with us recently, you will find our feedback in the Comments Page 4 of the website.

Thank you for visiting us. We'll see you again soon.
