Issue: Christmas 2001

Dear Family Members, Friends and Visitors,

 WELCOME ...

This is the Christmas issue for year 2001. As you know, our newsletter is a supplement to the Oloruntoba Family Websites and you'll need to visit the site to read the full stories indicated here.

THE FAMILY

We have the 4th edition of Bunmi's Letters from USA in this update. Here is a Peak: America is getting back to normal. Jay Leno and Letterman are back on air and we are all laughing again. Its best to understand America as more of a business, than just a country. Even though everything has changed, "business must go on as usual".

The AkinYemisis page is in the process of a major revision. Bear with us.

OUR EXTENDED FAMILY

Here is a new addition to our website.

First, the rational for the addition: "An extended family is any family that includes more than two generations or includes the nuclear families of siblings. This sociology term gives the impression that there are two divisions in a family - the immediate family and the other members outside the immediate members of a family. But to a Nigerian, the family is socially and culturally indivisible. The Nigerian family does not stop with the mother, father and children. It extends to include all the living relations in the family".

Second, we kick-off this new section with three bulletins: Cleveland Bulletin,  and Ibadan Chronicle. You should read them. Not only that, you should endeavour to send us news and pictures from the bigger family to make this section stimulating. In addition,  introduce this website to your friends and let them share with us. We welcome contributions from your friends too. If we have enough we'll create a new section for them titled FAMILY FRIENDS to show-case their contributions. The Cleveland story was written before Lekenike and Roland Jnr left for Washington DC. We'll rename this appropriately in the next issue. Someone suggests - Washington DC Bulletin.

ARTS AND CULTURE

Have you ever wondered from where you can browse and buy Nigerian music on the Internet? A new website offers a large variety of music for all tastes. We reviewed the site in our page on Nigerian Music.

COMPUTING

Here is a new article from Grandpa. More Fun in Your Computing It will show you how to make your computing colourful and enjoyable.

FORUMS

The Christmas stories and the Christmas sermon in this update will stimulate and strengthen you all. Our star contributors to the Under 18 forum are Moyin and Modupe. Moyin contributed three stories and Modupe one.

JOKES APART

We have a couple of selected jokes from the Funny Mailer. One is on how not to buy perfume for your loved ones. The second is on the cause of arthritis.
